Dungeon fighter online steam review
However, if you haven't played the game to know that it does get better, I envision the average player simply quitting long before then, but then the majority of the endgame content revolves around raids.
If you're bored enough to sit through the leveling process, you do finally somewhat feel like you're playing a beat-em-up rather than a mobile game that can be played with one hand once you get closer to the later caps (I'd say around 90+). Many encounters that are hyped up in the story are literal jokes and completely undermines the plot as well as the player's time. This is made more annoying due to knowing how many of these bosses functioned prior to this. The current new player (or rather I should say new character) experience is depressingly boring, with most of the leveling process involving going through dungeons in which every single monster (including the bosses) can be killed with a single skill.

I quit about a year and a half ago, but decided I should go ahead and download it via Steam (which can't be linked to existing accounts) for a quick romp through on a new account.ĭFO used to be a game I wholeheartedly enjoyed and would sink hours into, but it doesn't feel the same anymore. I've played DFO off and on since Nexon's initial release, till its shutdown, to the rerelease via Neople directly. A lot of people clearly worked really hard to bring it to life, so it just really sucks that this is the state it's in. The only winning move is not to play, because once you play you can't quit without throwing away all that time you invested.ĮDIT: The only thing I wanted to add was how much it pained me to write this review because I really, really used to love this game way back. It stopped being fun but it was hard to come to terms with everything I'd invested being for nothing. I regret the time I spent here the last two years. I came here for some grind to get me through covid isolation but this is not healthy, it is the mind-numbing, repetitive-strain-injury-inducing kind. Because you still need hundreds of millions of gold to buy avatars, amps, reinforcements, enchants, emblems, titles, creatures and so on just to pull your own weight.
This game is pretty much entirely a linear sprint to the one or two current endgame raids which you will then repeat HUNDREDS of times exactly the same way just to farm your gear, only to end up. Expect casual racism, sexism, and other bigotry and expect not to speak up about it (or about anything, really) without getting harassed and blocked by the people who lead the endgame raid groups, preventing you from progressing.Īnd what makes those things worse is, this isn't like WoW or something where there was at least a world of stuff to explore and do outside of endgame raids. Decent players or guilds exist but they are outnumbered.

Even after re-farming entire sets of gear just to have the most-optimal epics according to some 3rd party software I had to download just to calculate the stats, I'm still begging just to get in to the actual endgame content next to all the whales with amps and enchants bought by selling Cera items in the auction house. Check the hours I put in - I'm still more or less on the bottom of the food chain after years of meticulous daily grind. This game was cool back in 2010, if you have nostalgia for it maybe level a character a bit to experience the old dungeons and soundtrack.
